To achieve the projected targets and to develop trained manpower and achieve major scientific goals in these challenging areas of glaciology, the Institute invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the following positions:
1. Scientist: ‘C’ : 04 position
Pay Scale : Pay Band-3 : `15600-39100/- + Grade pay: ` 6600/- plus admissible allowances
Age Limit : Not exceeding 40 years as on 30.03.2012.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
(a) Essential :
Ph.D. in any area of the Earth Sciences with first class at Preceding degree, preferably in Glaciology, with four years post doctoral experience in the field of Glaciology with good academic record & publications in reputed journals.
(b) Desirable :
(i) Throughout 1st class academic record. The Institute reserves the right to screen-in candidates with throughout 1st class academic record for being called for an interview.
(ii) Specialization in the field of Physical Glaciology, Climate Change, Glacial Hydrology, Environmental Glaciology with expertise in modeling
Applications for filling these posts on deputation basis initially for a period of Two years will also be considered. In case of recruitment by deputation, the applicants must posses the essential educational qualification laid down above for the direct recruit should be:-
“Scientists or Technologists working in the Central/State Government departments/Universities/ Recognized research Institutions /Semi Government & Statutory or Autonomous Organizations:-
(i) Holding analogous posts.
(ii) With minimum three years service in the specialized field of Glaciology on the post(s) in Pay Band `15,600-39,000 + Grade Pay : `5,400/- per month or equivalent.
(iii) With age not exceeding 56 years as on 30.11.2010”.
